Medieval moated manor house, fishpond, sub-rectangular moat, north west side measuring 164 ft long, 36 ft wide and 6.5 ft deep, the south west arm measuring 98.4 ft long, 39.3 ft wide and 6.5 ft deep, the north east arm measuring 147.6 ft long, 39.3 ft wide and 6.5 ft deep, the south east arm had been filled in.

Finds include masonry.

Granted by William I to William Peverel and Walter de Encourt.

Sir Thomas Aylesbury’s daughter, Isabella, married Sir Thomas Chaworth.

 

1448                            Sir Thomas Chaworth built a new manor house to the south east of the site.
