Medieval motte and bailey. The bailey situated to the north had two courts. The Motte measuring 138 ft in diameter and standing 6.5 ft high, defended by a bank and outer ditch with the bank, in places, measuring 23 ft wide and standing 2.6 ft high. Includes a traverse bank measuring 120 ft long.

1660 Called ’The Old Castle of Annesley’ and was on the boundary of Sherwood Forest.
