Lowdham: Loudham

Scheduled Monument – Monument Number 319882


Medieval keep, motte, moat, with the motte measuring 70 ft by 100 ft and standing 9 ft high, defended and surrounded by a ditch. On the top of the motte was a wall measuring 4 ft thick. The ditch crossed by stones and measuring 2 ft wide, 12 ft deep and running for 18 ft, to the north of the mound is a rectangular enclosure defended by a bank and ditch.

Finds include Roman and Medieval pottery sherds.
