1200                              Described as ‘castellum’.

1347                              Recorded.

1399                              Richard II was held captive in the castle and he tried to escape through a window but he was caught in the gardens and taken back into the castle.

1540                              Recorded as being in the southern area of the town.

1540-1546                     Itinerary of John Leland: Ruins.

1798                              Castle Ditch recorded as being in the eastern area of the town.

1958                              Field Investigation.

1974                              Field Investigation.

20th C                            Nothing remains.
