Erdisland Motte

 

  • Erdisland, Herefordshire.

 

Medieval motte and bailey castle. Mound measuring 45 m in diameter at its base and standing 4.8 m high and there is a causeway across the moat to the north west side.

 

1086                            Owned by Roger de Lacy.

1990                            Excavated and evaluated by Birmingham University Field Archaeological Unit.
