Castle Field: Castle Field Farm


  • Kentchurch, Herefordshire.


Rectangular Roman fort defended by a rampart and double ditch. The second fort was built within the first fort but of a different alignment.

Had two periods of timber construction.

Finds include Claudian and Neronian pottery.


1985                            Coarse Ware found on the site by Monmouth Archaeological Society.

1986                            Excavated.
